Two charged after search yields 'magic mushrooms'
Authorities arrested two people Monday after finding an "indoor grow" of psilocybin mushrooms in their home.
Riley R. Whitener and Gena M. Whitener, both 29 and both of 310 Washington St., were arrested after a search of the home turned up 300 grams of the psilocybin mushrooms and a digital scale. Both were booked on a charge of manufacture and delivery of a barbiturate. Riley Whitener was being held on $10,000 bond Tuesday night at the Tazewell County Jail. Gena Whitener was released on a notice to appear in court. The street value of the drugs was estimated at $2,550, according to the Multi-County Narcotics Enforcement Group. A MEG agent and deputies with the Tazewell County Sheriff's Department conducted the search and made the arrests.
